Mozambique's main opposition party, the former rebel movement Renamo, may expel its top intellectual, David Alone, "at any moment", claims the Tuesday edition of the independent newsheet "Diario de Noticias"

My favorite passage, although I'm guessing it might be unfair to Renamo (and we complain about the NYT):

Alone is easily the most powerful orator in the Renamo parliamentary group. His speeches are often reactionary in the true sense of the word - they oppose modernity, and evoke the supposedly glorious traditions of the ancestral past. He can put together an argument without using the cheap jibes and insults that characterise many other Renamo deputies, and for this reason he has earned a degree of respect from the Frelimo benches.
