A nagging question

For several days now, I've been wondering why my frosted mini-wheats were so large, almost double the size of a normal mini-wheat. Just now, I noticed printed on the bottom left corner of the box the two words that seemed to explain it: "Big bite."

My two questions -- aren't big bite mini-wheats by their nature just wheats, or perhaps even maxi-wheats? And why would a normal shopper like me be expected to notice -- not the huge "MINI" right in the middle of the front of the box -- but the relatively obscure "big bite" designation at the bottom?
