Beira Supports Dhlakama As Deadline Passes

Another Mozambique election update.

I was interested to see the results by province. The opposition's stronghold is Sofala, a province in the middle of the country with the capital of Beira. I remember from Dark Star Safari that Beira is an old colonial town with a massive Victorian-style hotel downtown, now completely occupied by poor squatters:

Niassa province: Armando Guebuza (Frelimo) 55,131 (63.58 per cent) Afonso Dhlakama (Renamo) 27,563(31.74 per cent)

Cabo Delgado province: Armando Guebuza (Frelimo) 42,511 (78.44 per cent) Afonso Dhlakama (Renamo) 8,710 (16.07 per cent)

Manica province: Armando Guebuza (Frelimo) 72,466 (49.18 per cent) Afonso Dhlakama (Renamo) 67,569 (45.85 per cent)
