Not Quite Reader's Digest Worthy

The other day, I was walking my dog, Morgan. Suddenly, a kid ran up to me with an eager look on his face and asked me, "Does she bite people?"

I said that she didn't. When he heard that, he held out his hand and asked if he could pet her.

"Well," I said, "She's kind of afraid of people, so she probably doesn't want you to pet her."

He looked at me quizically for a moment, and then he asked, "Is she afraid of you, too, then?"
