The Trip to Gilroy

On Saturday, I met up with Kanako, Scott and Emi. Our goal for the day was to have the famous dim sum in Cupertino and then head south to Gilroy, a town known mainly for its garlic production. We were not headed to the garlic fields, but to the outlet mall.

Scott's car has integrated into it a pleasant woman who gives directions. She guided us down the pennisula to Cupertino, but she failed to tell us that we were entering the wrong door to the Chinese restaurant. We ended up sitting in the back section where the dim sum platters never came, but, unfortunately, we just assumed that they weren't serving dim sum on Saturday. I asked the waitress when they had dim sum, and she said that we could get it, but they didn't have any menus. So we ordered what we could think of, but we didn't know the technical term for slug noodles or slurply noodles or shrimp dumplings. It was only when I went to the bathroom and saw a huge room full of dim sum eaters that I realized our mistake.

From Cupertino, we headed to the Netflix offices, where we enjoyed lattes from the company's espresso machine. After that, we soon met up with Liz and Christine, who joined us for our trip to the outlet mall.

Nothing of note happened at the mall. I bought some pots and pans, a sweater and a pair of pants. By the time we got back to Scott's place, Emi was getting cranky, so we ate dinner, stopped at DQ and headed back for San Francisco.

The bad news awaiting us was that Morgan, who was hanging out with Nellie at Kanako and Paul's, had mistook Emi's playthings for chew toys. So, a result of our trip to the mall was that Emi had a net loss of toys.
