California Surreal Update

I went to Santa Monica today for work, and it seemed to be a very nice city. There was a farmer's market going on, which was thronged with people picking through oranges, potatoes, etc. My co-workers and I walked down a pedestrian street just three blocks from the ocean, which was quite crowded with people hanging out in cafes, browsing through shops or listening to the street musicians on the corner. The bright sunlight gave a happy glow to everyone and everything.

But this was all at mid-morning on a normal workaday Wednesday. The question running through our minds was -- what do these sunny, happy people do for a living?
