Interstate Musings
Two things I was wondering about, pondering the Bay Area interstates.
First, is the San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose metropolitan area the largest in population that has only one primary interstate (I-80)? I'm almost certain this has to be the case, unless I-5 somehow makes it into the region.
Second, is I-580, which runs from Stockton to San Raphael, the interstate system's longest spur? As everybody knows, interstate spurs are three digits, the first number always being odd and the second two numbers signifying the primary interstate the spur is connected to. But, usually, spurs are only a couple of miles long. I-580 must be almost 100 miles long.
At some point, I'll look at a map and figure this all out.
