Transbay Terminal Tower
Speaking of architecture, which design to you prefer for the proposed Transbay Terminal Tower in San Francisco:
César Pelli:
Sir Richard Rogers:
Skidmore Owings and Merrill:
All three seem derivative to me (especially compared to some of the stuff going up in Chicago). Pelli's looks a lot like his Two International Finance Center in Hong Kong. Rogers also seems to be rehashing ideas from the Commerzbank in Frankfurt. And, of course, SOM owes a big debt to Calatrava.
In this contest, I'll go with SOM.
