My First Crop
I've picked apples from my apple tree and lemons from my lemon tree, but earlier this week, I harvested and cooked the first crop from my garden that I actually planted myself. It came from the sorrel plant that I planted in my backyard in September.
I picked off six or seven leaves from the bottom of the plant, sauteed them along with some beet greens, and added them to spaghetti sauce. Sorrel is supposed to taste sour, but maybe because I mixed it with tomatoes, I didn't really taste that.
Below is a picture of the sorrel plant, still thriving, unlike some of the other stuff I've planted (most notably the spearmint and the lovage).
