Polishing Brass Candlesticks
I've been spending Saturday night polishing brass and silver. I bought these two brass candlesticks at the white elephant sale benefiting the Oakland Museum, and I thought I should take a picture comparing the unpolished to the polished. I also polished a silver stopper that I thought I could use for closing up wine bottles, but the stopper portion is too wide.
Now I need to figure out how to open up the globe behind the candlesticks. Based on its map of Europe, it was made between the two World Wars. The globe has a very frayed wire sticking out of Antarctica, connecting to the light bulb inside. But I can't figure out how to open up the globe to get to the socket and replace the wire.
